The Role

At Protagonist, we believe that great design has the ability to engage and activate the purpose economy. As a Sr. UX/UI Designer, you’re an innovative thinker and strategic problem solver who is as analytical as you are creative. As part of a small, collaborative team of engineers, designers, and product specialists, you’ll enable the next generation of purpose-driven users on the Protagonist platform. 

Here’s What You’ll Do 

• Design usable, accessible, and engaging digital experiences for the web and mobile 
• Own and make design decisions based on a thorough understanding of contemporary user-centered design principles 
• Exercise independent judgment with minimal direction from a supervisor 
• Collaborate with business partners and build upon their vision using sound UX principles 
• Be an advocate for our users 
• Capture requirements, design user flows, construct wireframes, prepare testable prototypes and design fully fleshed out solutions 
• Document your designs and consult with engineers to ensure they are built and function as intended 
• Establish the foundations for the Protagonist design system and work with engineering to implement it
• Effectively demonstrate strong problem-solving, customer-service and interpersonal skills 
• Contribute to the development of the Protagonist brand through design

Your Background

• Domain expertise in design
• Comfortable being an asynchronous and autonomous contributor.
• Proficiency designing and developing prototypes using standard industry tools 
• Proficiency designing high-fidelity mockups using Figma, Sketch or other industry tools 
• Subject Matter Expertise in interaction design 
• Experience conducting usability tests (including with users with disabilities) a plus 
• Experience working with SCRUM in an Agile environment a plus 
• Subject Matter Expertise in Accessibility (508/WCAG) a plus 
• Passionate about contributing to a project bigger than yourself 
• Insatiable curiosity about our users, their aspirations, and how Protagonist can help

We Think the First Six Months Will Look Like This

Your first half-year will be spent in fast-paced collaboration with your colleagues in design, product and engineering to develop the launch version of the Protagonist platform. This will include strategic and tactical design work to meet with customers, map out key interactions, prototype features, deliver production-ready design, and synthesize feedback and insights into the product. At the same time, you’ll be a key contributor to the development of the still-emerging Protagonist brand, which will include codifying brand guidelines, determining its expression in our product, and facilitating its execution in communications.
