Protagonist is a collaboration space for people and organizations working in the purpose economy: climate change, the UN SDGs, social impact, human rights, Deep Tech, the arts and sciences.
Protagonist is designed to convene networks — multiple stakeholders, spanning multiple organizations, sharing a common purpose — so they can connect, learn, organize, and act.
And by sharing the same platform, these ecosystems can then connect with each other, for further cross-pollination, coordination, and impact.
To solve networked challenges, we need communication and cross-pollination that transcend the silos of borders, institutions, and disciplines. And we need this yesterday. We have work to do.
We are all interconnected; the actions of one person affect the entire world. Because of that, we are each responsible for something larger than ourselves. We are stewards of those close to us and those very far — even those who come after us by hundreds of years.
Stewardship is at the center of both our product and our culture. Protagonist serves the people working for the benefit of life all around the planet. And as employees, we serve each other because we know that this experience has an impact on our lives and the lives of others — now and years from now. We work for the benefit of others.
You belong here. To build technology and products that are used and loved by people and solve real-world problems, we need to build a team with many different perspectives and experiences. We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply. Applicants in need of special assistance or accommodation during the interview process or in accessing our website please feel welcome to contact Emily Chardac at emily@protagon.ist.
The people working at Protagonist span all time zones and borders, because so do our problems and the people trying to solve them. Our fully remote team requires an asynchronous workspace. This mode of working not only creates more intentional work, it also contributes to a more diverse and respectful culture.
It means working via the platform that we’re building. It means responding when available. It means fewer meetings and more documentation. It means your work at Protagonist can adapt to the rhythm of your life, no matter where and when that is.
At Protagonist, we believe that great design has the ability to engage and activate the purpose economy. As a Sr. UX/UI Designer, you’re an innovative thinker and strategic problem solver who is as analytical as you are creative. As part of a small, collaborative team of engineers, designers, and product specialists, you’ll enable the next generation of purpose-driven users on the Protagonist platform.
This isn’t about pattern matching or making sure every box is checked. It’s about encouraging the right talent to inquire about this role.
Your first half-year will be spent in fast-paced collaboration with your colleagues in design, product and engineering to develop the launch version of the Protagonist platform. This will include strategic and tactical design work to meet with customers, map out key interactions, prototype features, deliver production-ready design, and synthesize feedback and insights into the product. At the same time, you’ll be a key contributor to the development of the still-emerging Protagonist brand, which will include codifying brand guidelines, determining its expression in our product, and facilitating its execution in communications.
In Latin, this phrase means “care for the whole person.” We’ve taken cura personalis to heart as we’ve designed our compensation and wellbeing (often referred to as “benefits”) packages. At Protagonist, we offer comprehensive healthcare, paid time off, programs, and rewarding compensation packages.
That being said, you will likely want to join Protagonist the company for the same reason people will want to join Protagonist the service — to accelerate the solving of our collective challenges. We’re all in this together.
